Christened "Penned
Waters" by early Indian settlers, Pentwater is situated on both Lake
Michigan and Pentwater Lake.
Incorporated in 1867, Pentwater has long been a busy harbor village.
Lumbering, commercial fishing, brick making and farming helped make
it the largest settlement on the Lake Michigan shoreline between Muskegon
and Manistee.
Sportfishing, swimming and boating on area lakes and rivers; and shopping
in our unique gift and craft stores help make Pentwater the popular
resort it is today.
